The clips are made from .045” thick 6AL4V titanium and are approximately 1/4” to 5/16” wide and 3” long. These are the same pocket clips I use on my custom made knives.
The screws holding the clip to the cap are stainless steel Torx® head.
There is a Neoprene® O-ring between the cap and body of each pen to keep out dirt.
The cartridges are all Parker Gel®. These are available in several colors and have the same dimensions as the classic Parker Jotter (grease based ink) refills that have been around since the late 1950’s.
To extend or retract the point, simply turn the cap a few times. The fine threads keep the pen from accidentally opening in your pocket. There is approximately 5/8” of thread engagement between the cap and the body.
Overall, each Twister pen is approximately 5 5/8” long and weighs 2 1/2 ounces.
(I’ve used the word “approximately” because each pen is made individually and the components are matched by hand. Each Twister pen is made entirely on manually controlled machines – taking several days to complete.)
Compared to the thin walled, die-drawn tube construction usually employed, the Twister pens are much more “substantial.” Every day users find them well balanced and comfortable.
Military and law enforcement personnel have found that the sturdy pocket clip and tactile grooves machined into the bodies and caps ensure positive retention and control in adverse field conditions. They have also found that the addition of a glow-in-the-dark insert allows the pen to be used in the field for marking and locating gear during power outages and other emergency situations.
